In 2026, Microsoft make it harder and harder to set up a Local Account. There are ways around their Out-of-Box Experience that keep requesting a Microsoft Account.
But once you have managed to setup to a Local Account over a Microsoft Account, we find that the end user will constantly get the same notification when signing into that account – Let’s Finish Setting up Your PC!

As the screenshot above shows, you can click on Remind in 3 days, but again – you’re going to have keep doing that over and over.
Buried in the System Notification, there is a tick box that should stop the above.
On your Windows device, go to Settings > System > Notifications;

When in Notifications, scroll down to the bottom to Additional Settings and expand it; you’ll get 3 options (as of Windows 11 25H2);
- Show the Windows welcome experience after updates and when signed in to show what’s new and suggested
- Suggest ways to get the most out of Windows and finish setting up this device
- Get tips and suggestions when using Windows

My recommendation is to untick all. Once unticked, you should no longer be prompted to finish setting up your PC when signing in.
